About Bibliotheca Musicalis

Bibliotheca Musicalis is dedicated to the preservation, modernization, and republication of historical music theory texts. Our goal is to make these works accessible and usable for today’s musicians, scholars, and students—without sacrificing their historical integrity.

We believe that much of the wisdom of past musicians lies buried in rare treatises, often inaccessible or difficult to use. Through careful editing and clean formatting, we aim to reintroduce these texts to a modern audience.

Our editions are based on original manuscripts and early prints, with attention given to clarity of notation, consistency of terminology, and fidelity to the composer’s or theorist’s intent. When necessary, we include commentary or translation to assist contemporary readers.

Whether you are a performer, a theorist, or simply curious about historical pedagogy, we invite you to explore our growing collection.
